| Shene is committed to beauty with a
cause. And we believe that the
best way to help a man is to teach him how to fish, so he can feed himself
forever. In keeping with our belief, we do not donate a percentage of
our sales to charity. Rather, we use it to educate and train the less
fortunate, and help them find employment. Our aim is to help the underprivileged
women and youth of India become self-reliant, so that they may build
for themselves an ecnomically independent and dignified life. How do we do this? Shene also employs young women to help package the products. |

In several ways. Shene has launched an entire range of handcrafted products decorated with pressed flowers. This is the result of the training we have provided talented but underprivileged women from the Himalayan foothills in the art of selecting, drying and pressing flowers, and then using them to decorate. Our team now decorates a collection of stationery, interior decor, and gift items. |

| Morever, we use a part of the sales proceeds to train these needy youngsters in fields that interest them and that could help them find employment. For instance, Shene has enrolled a young woman in a Hindi typing class, and helped her find employment in the government sector. Another young girl was enrolled on a baking course. Shene had also enrolled a group of women in agarbatti and dhoop batti making courses. The sale of Shene products has also helped fulfil one particular girl's dream of studying textile design. It has also helped arrange tution facilities for underprivileged girls appearing for their board examinations. |
